The Healing Benefits of Groups.
Grief can be an isolating and overwhelming experience, but finding solace in a grief group can offer immense healing benefits. These support groups provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals can openly express their emotions, share their unique stories, and be embraced by others who have experienced similar losses.
Through shared empathy and understanding, members of the group create a sense of belonging and companionship, which can alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation. Attending a grief group allows individuals to witness the diverse ways in which others cope with their grief, which can offer validation and normalize their own grieving process.
Additionally, grief groups often provide educational resources and guidance on coping strategies, helping individuals develop healthier ways to navigate the complex journey of grief. Ultimately, the healing benefits of a grief group lie in the transformative power of connection and communal support that enables individuals to find hope, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose in life.
“A support group is like a life line, offering hope and encouragement when we need it the most.”

The loss of a spouse or life partner can bring profound changes and challenges that affect every aspect of life. Our Spousal Loss Grief Group offers a supportive and understanding space where participants can connect with others who have experienced a similar loss. Led by one of our experienced grief counsellors, this group provides an opportunity to explore grief, share experiences, learn coping strategies, and find support while navigating life after the loss of a spouse or partner.
Whether your loss is recent or occurred years ago, you are welcome to join us in a compassionate and non-judgmental environment.
Living with a chronic, life-limiting, or lifelong illness often brings losses that others may not see—changes to your health, independence, routines, relationships, and future plans. Our Loss of Health Grief Group provides a supportive space to connect with others who understand these challenges.
Through guided discussions and practical strategies, participants will learn ways to navigate the grief associated with illness, adapt to life changes, build resilience, and discover tools to help live a meaningful and fulfilling life alongside their diagnosis.
All of our groups are community funded and are free for anyone to join. Our grief counsellors help group members understand their grief, and members talk about their journey’s with each other. Our groups most times have people waiting to join so we ask that you sign our pledge of commitment that you will attend the groups for the duration once you have been contacted, unless you feel the group is not for you.
